All About Calcium: Soft Tofu vs. Boxed Tofu

There is a common misperception that tofu is a high-calcium food, when in fact, not all tofu varieties are rich in calcium. Most store-bought, boxed tofu only contains about 13 mg of calcium per 100 g of tofu, due to the high proportion of coagulants (rather than gypsum powder) in its composition.

In contrast, soft tofu contains about 111 mg of calcium per 100 g due to the higher percentage of gypsum powder used, which is the main source of calcium.

When buying tofu, remember to pay attention to the variety that you choose and select those that are higher in calcium.
