Can newborn babies drink cow’s milk?

Cow's milk is a nutritious drink and because of that, many parents want to feed their newborn babies with it. But is cow’s milk the right type of power drink for newborns?

Sorry to disappoint fellow parents but we don’t recommend it at all!Not only is the digestive system of newborn babies not well developed to completely digest the protein and minerals contained, cow’s milk also doesn’t have the right type of iron, Vitamin C, or fats for newborn babies. Feeding them with cow’s milk might irritate their colon’s inner linings, causing blood in their stools.

When the baby is around one year old or above and their digestive system matures, parents can then start feeding them with cow’s milk. But do remember to give them whole fat milk since nutrients like Vitamin A, D and E are fat soluble, which means they can only be dissolved in fats.

When toddlers reach the age of 2, parents can give them skimmed milk based on their preferences.
