The Myth of Collagen?

Collagen is a protein in the body that can be found in the skin, tendons, muscles, and bones. Do collagen supplements help to prevent wrinkles and aging? Let’s first take a closer look at what a protein is. A protein is made up of one or more chains of amino acids, and when we eat foods that contain protein (including collagen), our bodies break down those proteins into amino acids and reassemble them into other proteins that the body needs. This means that a collagen supplement, once taken, will likewise be broken down into amino acids and reassembled into new proteins that may not necessarily be collagen. However, we know that vitamins A, C, and E aid the production of bodily collagen, so it’s a good idea to eat more vegetables of different colors, fruits, nuts, and seeds to facilitate the absorption of these vitamins!
