Are natural almonds healthier than honey roasted almonds?

Most of us know that raw nuts are healthier than the flavored varieties, but do you know where the differences lie? Comparing the two types that we purchased at the supermarket, we discovered that the flavored variety contained much more sugar and sodium! Every 100 g of honey roasted almonds had 19.2 g of sugar, which is five times the amount contained in the natural almonds and close to the WHO daily recommended intake of 25 g; as well as 200 g of sodium, which is about 10% of our daily recommended intake of 2,000 mg. The natural almonds that we purchased only contained 1 mg of sodium per 100 g of nuts!

The stark differences that we found between the two varieties of almonds remind us that we must choose wisely and pay attention to how much we eat so that we do not exceed our recommended dietary allowances.
