Interventional Radiology
The
newly installed "Digital Subtraction Angiography
(DSA)" machine allows visualization of blood vessels
in the human body without artifacts and bony structures
blocking the way-they have all been "digitally
subtracted" out of the background.
The machine is a powerful armament to enable interventional
radiologists to perform minimal invasive procedures.
Dr. Jimmy Lee, Consultant Radiologist and Interventional
Radiologist of the TWAH said as technology advances,
an increasingly wide range of diseases can now be treated
with interventional radiology.
Compared with open surgery, there is no large incisions
and blood loss. Patient can go home earlier. Most patients
might prefer this modality of treatment if they are
aware of the option.
