Laser Dental Treatment
Most
people do not enjoy visiting the dentist due to a fear
of pain, or the unnerving sound and vibrations of the
drill. Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital was a leader in
the introduction of dental laser treatment, which reduces
patient discomfort, and shortens recovery time. The
equipment was approved by the United States Food and
Drug Administration (FDA) in 2006, for the treatment
of both dental and oral diseases. We are the first medical
institution to introduce this technology in Hong Kong.
The Advantages of Laser Treatment
The traditional treatment for severe
periodontal disease is by open surgery, removing the
hidden stones and debris in periodontal pockets after
incising the gums. Laser treatment vaporizes the stones,
and directly eliminates the associated bacteria and
toxins without the need to incise the gums.
| The advantages are: |
 |
Deals with large and small lesions,
and is more precise |
 |
Reduces discomfort and pain during
treatment |
 |
No uncomfortable vibrations or disturbing
noises from equipment |
 |
Reduces bleeding |
 |
Recovery is faster |
 |
Reduces inflammation and the risk
of infection due to the bactericidal efficacy of
laser |
