Minimally Invasive Surgery & Colorectal Diseases Center

HKAH–TW features well-equipped operating rooms, and offers premier surgical services including surgery, minimally invasive surgery, and various endoscopic procedures and treatments under the leadership of foremost specialists and a team of experienced nursing staff.

Operating Rooms and MIS Center

The new hospital building features 10 operating rooms, five of which commenced services in 2016. The new operating rooms employ the use of blue light technology (which helps enhance the clarity of the image on the monitor), as well as a wide variety of advanced equipment , providing patients with high quality medical care and enhanced safety through state-of-the-art technology.

Megadyne Mega Soft patient return electrode monitoring pads – protect patients against pad-site burns and other skin irritations

In addition, the hospital’s central sterilize supply department is fully equipped with advanced sterilization equipment such as large-scale automated steam sterilizers, Sterrad sterilization systems, and Biopure water purification systems to reduce the risk of contamination for patients.

The hospital also offers a variety of surgical packages for common procedures so that patients are better able to plan according to their needs.

Endoscopy Center

HKAH-TW’s Endoscopy Center includes four endoscopy rooms that are equipped with advanced endoscopic equipment to provide comprehensive endoscopic examinations and treatment services.

Staffed by friendly, highly qualified endoscopic nurses and technical staff, the Center offers personalized services to each patient in a caring yet professional environment that promotes wellness and healing.

Endoscopic Services and Equipment

HDTV Video Processor

The Endoscopy Center is equipped with the advanced Olympus CV-290 HDTV video processor, one of the world’s leading endoscopic systems, which is compatible with a wide range of endoscopes that offer narrow band imaging for much clearer images.

Coupled with the Olympus H290 endoscope, the system offers dramatically improved image quality through state-of-the-art image enhancement technologies, ultimately providing more precise treatment results for patients.

Narrow Banding Imaging

The basic principle of NBI is to improve visibility by excluding the red light, which has a long wavelength, and leaving only the blue and green lights, which have relatively short wavelengths. NBI’s high contrast images are able reveal blood vessels, surface characteristics, and even subtle changes in both mucosal structure and color. The technology is useful for the detection of early abnormalities by spotlighting potential malignancies with remarkable clarity and detail.

EndoCapture System

During an endoscopy, doctors are able to capture high-definition images by using a preset control button on the endoscope, enabling them to analyze the patient’s condition and prepare a medical report after the procedure.

What is Endoscopy?

Endoscopy is a minimally invasive diagnostic medical procedure used to evaluate the interior surfaces of an organ by inserting a small scope through one of the body's orifices. Doctors can directly see the lesion through the scope, take small biopsies, retrieve foreign objects or perform other minimally invasive treatment procedures.
