Major Cognitive Disorder was named Dementia in the past, it refers to a decline in a person's cognitive functions. Skills such as learning and memory, language, executive function, complex attention, perceptual-motor, social cognition may gradually become lost over time. In Hong Kong, one in ten people aged 65 or over and one-third of those older than 85 are sufferers.

The key is early detection and intervention, which may help slow the decline in cognitive function significantly and minimize friction in social relationship and psychological stress to family members. In the long-run, it can also help lower medical expenses to their family and to society. Early diagnosis of dementia, early intervention will bring benefit both to the patient and to the family, and should be done as soon as possible. Our neurologists can offer early diagnosis and suggestions on the appropriate medicinal and non-pharmacological treatment options.
